Each grading covers all elements of Karate -- kihon, kata, and kumite. All KJA students begin with a white belt (unranked) and may advance through different levels up to and including Black Belt , a Kyu/dan grading rank list is included below.
Because all students have different potentials, it is important not to compare your progress with that of another. Grading and ranks should only be used as a means by which to measure your own improvement.
During grading, consideration in awarding rank, other than for one's technical level, is given to age, time practising, previous experience, physical condition, physical potential, personal situations, attitude toward practice, attitude toward others, concern for responsibilities, and number of special training's.
It is the student's responsibility to do his or her best during the grading and to accept the rank awarded with dignity and humility.
The most important point is the student's mental attitude. At all times it is the responsibility of the student to make sure he/she as a current valid License, the student will be refused entry to grade and train if no valid licence is held.

2nd Dan	Nidan - Black belt (Second level)
3rd Dan	Sandan - Black belt (Third level)
4th Dan	Yondan - Black belt (Fourth level)
5th Dan	Godan - Black belt (Fifth level)
6th Dan	Rokudan - Black belt (Sixth level)
7th Dan	Shichidan - Black belt (Seventh level)
8th Dan	Hachidan - Black belt (Eighth level)
9th Dan	Kudan - Black belt (Nineth level)
10th Dan	Judan - Black belt (Tenth level)
Note: Dan Gradings	Gradings for Dan rank are conducted twice a year, as near to November 10th as possible to commemorate the anniversary of Master Funakoshi's birth, and April 26th to commemorate the anniversary of his death.
Titles
Tashi	Expert. A title which may be given to some 3rd - 4th dans.
Renshi	Polished expert. A title which may be given to some 5th - 6th dans.
Shihan	Master teacher, "Doctor". A title given to 6th dans or above. Black and Red Belt from this point forward.
Kyoshi	Expert instructor, "Teacher grade". A title which may be given to some 7th - 8th dans.
Hanshi	Grand Master a Title given to the Highest Black belt grades, signifying their understanding of the art.

9th Kyu to 7th Kyu (Red to Orange belts) £20:00

6th Kyu to 4th Kyu (Green to Purple and White) £25:00

3rd Kyu to 1st Kyu (All Brown Belts) £35:00

1st Dan (Black Belt Level) £100.
